How to check Azure AD edition

 An easy way to check which version (or edition) of Azure AD you have is to go to the AAD portal:

https://aad.portal.azure.com/

There are four editions or tiers available, these are:

• Free
• Office 365 apps
• Premium P1
• Premium P2

With a Visual Studio Professional (or Enterprise) subscription you get the free edition.

Typically, an organisation would need to choose one of the paid editions. For example, a feature such as self-service password reset (SSPR) requires Premium P1.
